US police driving standards are appalling as are a lot of the tactics they use

Thankfully U.K. police drivers are far better trained and the tactics used far more regulated and safe

I caught Cop Car Workshop the other day and the manoeuvre while not the PIT manoeuvre took out 2 squad cars and the perpetrators car. Obviously they use discretion when deciding to use the manoeuvre.

Given how dangerous speeding is, I'm glad that an officer was on hand to enforce some extreme safety.

They should have pulled over and stopped as were given ample time, perhaps there was also some intel on the car?

Meanwhile in America they are probably bemused by how our police 'try' and stop cars like in the below clip:

Was the bullet hole in the windscreen of the cop car showing the in-car footage anything to do with this lady?

Had she fired at officers?

Why did the police try to pull her over initially?

Why was she running from the police?

There’s not even half a story here to form an opinion on.

She was speeding only.. the Police there state if you feel unsafe when asked to pull over then you should put on your hazards move to the right lane and pull over in a safe place like under a light or a gas station, if this is the video I think it is she followed guidance but the cop was on a mission, she is suing the police.

Yes, it's even in the Arkansas driver's manual:

"The steps outlined below provide drivers with basic information of what to do when stopped by a law enforcement officer or when passing a law enforcement officer stopped alongside a roadway to ensure the officer’s safety, the safety of the driver and any passengers.
1.Pull over to the right side of the road –activate your turn signal or emergency flashers to indicate to the officer that you are seeking a safe place to stop.
2.If you are unsure if you are being stopped by an actual police officer, activate your turn signal or emergency flashers and pull to the nearest well-lit location, or dial 9-1-1 and request confirmation that an actual police officer is attempting to stop you.
..."

You’re right, but a cursory google gets a fuller picture. She was allegedly speeding; plod put on his blue lights; she pulled over to the side(ish) and put her hazards on; within 2 minutes of putting his lights on he punted her into the median. She maintains it wasn’t safe for her to stop there, and there was an exit junction less than a mile away; he maintains she should’ve stopped as soon as possible.

I saw this yesterday but didn't think it would make its way on here.

It's the kind of daft thing you expect to see in the US.

Even watching it it seems ridiculously over the top assuming no details omitted (like she hadn't just committed an armed robbery biggrin) but it's surprising to see people saying "should have pulled over" especially when it appears the drivers manual for that state literally tells drivers to do what she did.

My lad loves those programmes.

They really wind me up as the tt in the car who has risked lives as well as damaged to the tune of many 1000s of pounds always seems to get away with community service and a ban.

As if that's going to stop them getting in a car again and being a complete .

laugh you mean when she says " I did slow doooown, i turned on my haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaZaaaaaaads "

Imagine having to listen to that noise all day long.

I'm undecided , on the one hand it could have been wiser for the driver to have slowed down considerably more and perhaps straddle the hard shoulder area before coming to a stop. I appreciate that there are accidents on the hard shoulder even when a fully lit up police vehicle is involved but it's always best to appear keen to stop! On the other hand it is entirely reasonable if you know there is an exit in barely a mile ( you would assume the officer was also aware of this!) to continue to take the exit an pull up off the freeway/main road.

Given it's the US I expect the woman will receive a few $$$$$ and the cops given more "training" on being a little less keen to go straight to full chase + pit manoeuvre mode.

American police and impatience leading to excessive force go hand in hand.

How many times do we hear about an unarmed suspect being shot by American police, or excessive force resulting in death; I recall the George Floyd thing last year.

A pit manoeuvre for that? It’s ridiculous. I used to live in Arizona, dreadful place but you were always wary of police, as you had no idea how power-crazed that uniformed Yank would be and you knew they would be carrying a loaded firearm on their belt.
