Must be an exceedingly slow news day in the BBC Suffolk newsroom, I remember watching a squirrel do this in the 1950s in my grandparents' garden.

Never saw the greasy pole trick but my dad in the early part of that decade was an avid gardener and used lots of contraptions to stop them getting food and ruining his plants and bulbs.

And there was huge difference back then - it would have been a 'red' squirrel not a grey.

Trying to climb the greasy poke to success can be so frustrating.

The Greasy Poke is much harder to climb than the Greasy Pole.
