Well, Malta has one, and all they did was starve and have bombs dropped on them, so why not?

The George Cross (GC) - introduced in 1940, is granted only for acts of gallantry of the greatest heroism or of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger.

The dancing on TikTok was good but not sure it deserves a medal.

Perhaps it’s for all the DNRs they issued.

Sending infectious people into care homes to save yourselves? DNRs issued for elderly and disabled people? The complete and total neglect of every other aspect of their job? That's gallantry now? Desertion would be a more appropriate term.

Perhaps it's retirement time, as it's rare that the Queen puts a foot wrong.

What a bunch of cynical critics you are. The Queen and country has recognised how much service the organisation has given for over 70 years and the dedication of its staff over the last 18 months.

Happy people on here today. Working long hours, limited PPE at the start, unknown disease and infection rate amongst staff was high initially, 1500 dead claimed by some... Yet still they carried on...

I'd say well deserved. Now back it with a decent pay rise Boris

Anyone been able to get a face to face appointment with a GP yet?

Three week wait for a phone consultation round these parts.

Do make sure when you need the NHS you start with that incorrect vitriol.

The NHS is one of the biggest employers in the uk, the range of roles being done are from the front line nurses and doctors and supporting roles to pr and marketing and everything in between.

To give this to all the NHS is laziness. It's not taking the time to thank those in the NHS that made tbe most sacrifice.

My "bizarre" refers to the daft gesture politics of this.

But the thing is that the NHS was not particularly unique in terms of death rate

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunit...

Why not Bus drivers?, or Supermarket workers?, or people who work in food processing centres?

It is true that the NHS sent people from hospitals back to care homes without testing them or waiting for test results to be returned.

Unfortunately it would have been political suicide to point this out at the time, that ridiculous clap for carers stuff was still going then so the story wasn’t widely circulated. I read it in Private Eye.

The NHS does have a culture of inefficiency, arse covering and punishing whistle blowing.

Pah, food delivery people were the real heroes without them many would have starved to death...
