Some idiot decided to throw a lit firework into an open convertible at traffic lights in the US over the 4th July weekend, then drive off. The driver must have suffered terrible burns.

Lots of the comments suggesting this should be an 'attempted murder' charge. Is that likely/realistic?

(As an aside, looks like a BMW E85 Z4)
