Is it a slow news week for the following to be broadcast as news?
https://www.devonlive.com/news/uk-world-news/virgi...
Home owner wants more parking (off road) so dig up their front garden and park illegally managing to navigate the Virgin Media junction box,Virgin replace said box with a new bigger version and the home owner gets upset and runs crying to the papers!
I wonder what her local council will have to say on the matter,,,
She said: "They just kept laughing. I cried. I am going to lose money on the house now. They will have to move it when I get the dropped kerb."

Must be a slow week when a 'Daily Mail face' story from Grimsby gets reported in a local rag in Devon, although common ownership is probably behind this.
Saw this elsewhere, & one of the comments was to the effect that she doesn't have a dropped kerb at all, never mind in front of the cabinet, so it's likely she'll have even more of a Daily Mail face when the council pay a visit

They will indeed have to move it once she gets dropped kerb permission, but they also get to bill her for moving it. A VM relocations team bill will be eye opening for her.
The council will if they grant dropped kerb permission also get her to redo the “drive” and access properly. TBH I wouldn’t be shocked if openreach need to move their pole too.
There's a related conversation to be had around what constitutes news in general. Such is the saturation to it i can't recall the last time that 'breaking news' was a sit up and take notice experience. Breaking news used to be something truly important, whereas now any minor variation in anything at all to do with Covid holds that moniker on plenty of news sites. Before that it was Brexit. Its become so diltued and washed out these days.
Before the internet anyyhing on the TV news would be a proper story involving death, war, big national stuff or global issues. Now its so padded out with utter nonsense, certainly online anyhow.

Not putting it a couple of feet to the other side does seem like a massive dose of petulance/jobsworthiness.
I suspect that their previous letter to her about moving it involved an unpalatable number, but when replacing it anyway, there's the opportunity to meet halfway on that.
Do you think the covers in the pavement between the box and the road are rated for vehicular traffic? Putting the box there is a good way of offering partial protection.I suspect that their previous letter to her about moving it involved an unpalatable number, but when replacing it anyway, there's the opportunity to meet halfway on that.
None of the images seems to show the kerb, coincidence or deliberate siding with the complainer?

Tabloids take advantage of the stupid like this woman, the Journo nods along in sympathy, get the quotes, post the story, and then lie back and count the cash as papers get sold/clicks go up as the public fall for the bait. The kerb is low so she didn't bother to get dropped officially, but very council to have been driving around it for all this time.

There's an obligatory sadface pic in this article:
https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/news/virgin-med...
Also it was reported as damaged, what's the betting that they clipped it when driving on/off one day?
As mentioned the kerb is low, but wasn't dropped. I assume when she applies to drop it the council will require that VM give permission, which they won't until she pays them to move it.
