MODS IF THIS DESCENDS INTO THE SAME AS THE HUBBARD THREAD PLEASE DELETE.

Not interested in the same arguments or whether there is an advantage, and certainly not what toilet they may use.

Quinn is likely to be the first trans person to win a medal.

They were born female, played girls and womens sports all their life and is now playing womens football at the olympics.

What have they transitioned from and to ???

Why should you care? Does it affect you?

They feel happier with their life. That’s a good thing, right?

Surely the discussion about a physical advantage is the whole controversy and talking point. I’m not sure what the point of the thread is if you can’t discuss that?

They’re non binary transgender, it might mean that they’re planning to/have started to transition to transmasculine.

i asked what they have transitioned from and to.

It doesn't effect me at all, and yes it is a good thing that they are happier.

Are you thinking of transitioning yourself?

Quinn self-describes their pronouns as 'they/them', so they probably don't identify as either male or female.

Are you saying that the change from woman to non binary is deemed a transition ?

He said it might mean.

Non binary is perfect, we should all be non binary and just get on with stuff. Non binary males, non binary females... We should just remove all gender, it's a useless descriptor anyway, says nothing about people, their characters or what you expect of them.

I'm happy with that.

They/them would be unneeded and we could go back to he/she, he for non binary males and she for non binary females.

It’s complicated, non binary is generally classed with transgender as you usually don’t associate with your birth gender. Not all non binary people identify as trans though and there might not be a transition as such. Although a lot of people do go on hormone therapy/have surgery to help themselves feel more comfortable with themselves.

the reason they are playing the women's team is because deep down they know that the biological reality of their sex means they would struggle to get into a semi-pro men's team - probably not even a men's college / university team...

Thanks

So to be transgender you don’t actually have to make a physical change ?

In this instance Quinn has given up their Christian names and changed pro nouns and that is enough to be called the first trans athlete to win a medal ?

They are also playing in women’s football despite not being a woman ?

On their passport, does it just say ‘Quinn’?

Would it be in the first or last name section? I cant imagine many governmental databases being happy with only one name field being input
