Hopefully loads of happy kids with good results after a pretty difficult year!

Mayhap, but given the way they've been jerked around over the last year or so, that smacks a tad of victim blaming.

GCSE results 2021: Record passes and top grades https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-58174253

Only a small rise on last year.

Kids can only sit the exams they’re given, great to see some positive news for them.

If kids not going to school makes the smarter, why don't we get rid of the schools and save a load of money?

Cynically this just looks like something to take the edge off the absolute fkup which has been the past year.

Never ceases to amaze me how bitter people can be given the year and a half inflicted on the poor sods.

Exactly. The kids have been through hell for the past 18 months, not having a clue what is going to happen to their school, their exams and their future. And that is on top of the pandemic as a whole.

My 16 yr old, and his mates, have worked their arses off the whole time despite incredible pressure and stress and his results today are proof of that hard work.

Anyone who thinks they have had an easy time and been handed the results on a plate should stop and think how they would cope during the last 18 months as a 16 yr old.

From one proud dad!

Exactly this, my daughter has essentially had to do all her exams as coursework and she has worked a lot harder than she probably would have had to if they still had to take exams.

Onto the next challenge, which will be A-Levels

Spoke with one of my goddaughters today. She's chuffed as nuts about her GCSE results. She managed to get more than enough to secure her place at college but still had a couple of subjects which weren't top grades.
No matter, she's now done with school which is a huge weight off and she's looking forward to moving on to higher education. Mind you, her academic accomplishments haven't stopped her from bombarding the local businesses with her CV in search of a summer job.
