Animals!

I can't believe the sentences for this level of brutality

so six were convicted, one gets 21 years, another 16 years, one gets twelve years, two get eleven years and you start a thread on the one that gets ten years.

Did you sit through the trial? do you know why the judge passed various sentences?

Because they are on life licence upon release. Also, the tariff's are minimum terms, they don't mean they'll be released at those points.

Exactly. Threads like this start largely out of boredom i suspect (aided and abetted by a need to be cross about something).

Here endeth the froth on this one, hopefully.

I might be wrong but I thought that a life sentence meant that when someone is released following the minimum term they are not free entirely but instead are out on licence and can be recalled to prison for breaching the terms of the licence.

That's my understanding.

On the OP's point to be fair I struggle with the idea that 10 years is a "life" sentence even if there are heavy restrictions on what can happen to you.
