But why do the British supporters have to hold the Union Flag ......... up-side-down ??

Well done to her, so proud.

fantastic achievement, particularly given her age but the hype surrounding her (particularly the bbc)over the last year before she had won anything major was a bit ott.we have an undisputed light welterweight champion in josh taylor who is possibly going to become the greatest ever uk boxer (subjective, i know) that hardly received a peep on the bbc regarding his incredible achievement after just 18 professional fights.

Well, Im not really a tennis fan but I did stay up till after midnight to watch this!!!
The fantastic show by these two young ladies was the second beacon of light on the anniversary of a tragedy, but this time not from Ground Zero but from Flushing Meadows!

None of the overly muscular, grunting or screaming playeresses, but young athletic, extremely talented, and SMILING youngsters, who are a credit to the game.
A final which showed talent, fantastic shots, some of which were text-book exemplary, others which were out of this world, incredible shots which shouldn't be possible!
A sporting highlight which will be remembered for a very long time.

I just hope that the sporting companies do not burn them up, and then drop them fast, with their millions of advertising lucre.

To both of the finalists, both born in Canada within 2 months of each other, congratulations, and may your careers continue to be a shining light for todays youngsters!

The BBC's obsession with her is starting to get a bit much now. They just can't help themselves, can they.
