Not sure if this is posted elsewhere, but I'm surprised the cyclist saw fit to actually grab the cars drivers mirror.
I don't think I'd be pleased to have that level of intrusion.

Was one of the cyclists wearing a piston heads jersey? (One behind the chap who grabbed the mirror)

So touching his mirror warrants being grabbed and punched in the face? The driver was already up for it otherwise he wouldn't have started the whole thing

Why was the Cyclist alongside arguing with him? It's the height of stupidity putting himself at so much risk.

As a cyclist I wouldn't have been grabbing a 1.5 ton moving vehicle, that had just demonstrated aggresive driving to me.

As a driver I wouldn't be punching him, but as ever, you never get to see the whole story in these events do you?

Would have been better to see the entire video clip to understand how it all panned out.

I'm guessing the police did, and was the reason for issuing just a caution.

Not justifying the driver punching the idiot, but yes - absolutely.

With the eternal proviso that we didn''t see the few minutes prior to the overtake;

Plod obviously didn't care that much.

Idiot driver started it (although may have the excuse "I was letting them know I was there hence I sounded my horn", but we all know that's bks)

Idiot cyclist picks the wrong idiot to pontificate to and gets a tickle for his trouble.

No score draw. Points shared.

I had an interesting altercation with a bloke in a large pickup. He passed me really close so I did the wker symbol. Maybe not the wisest thing but he overtook into the path of an oncoming car and squeezed into me to avoid a head on.

Anyway I rounded the bend and he was there waiting. Drivers door open stood at the rear of the vehicle.

I immediately stopped. Put my bike against the wall (drystone wall/50 limit, tight climb). Took my helmet and glasses off and asked him in the strongest language if he wanted to experience pain. His face went from anger, to freezing in fear and he backed off to his pickup and drove off.

If it had been someone else what would he have done?

This video shows 2 idiots meeting imo.

The driver received a caution, as no one was injured, and he admitted guilt.

The lady falling/being knocked off her bike had no charges raised, as it wasn't on camera.

Quote "I put my hand on the car just so I could keep up with him, to have a chat with him" - No wonder he got a smack. "to have a chat with him"... cyclists really do earn their reputation.

I'm afraid that whole "do you want to experience pain" thing read to me as needlessly homoerotic.

Really close misses are one thing that really flips people.

Just falling off your bike - I had a intro articular fracture of my arm 10months ago.

So imagine being swiped off at any sort of speed.

Do you think I was out of order for giving him a wker sign?

Or for not waiting to be assaulted and taking it to him when I realised he was there to cause me harm?

Imagine being punched whilst sat on a bike.

Should I have sucked up the initial idiot driving?

A longer video gives a bit more context. The juke overtakes (no real issue there bar the sounding of the horn), for a reason unseen by the camera the driver appears to brake check the bikes and then the exchange of words happen.

Not wise grabbing someones car, and tbh responding to such idiots is rarely the right course of action - however tempting

Swindon Wheelers are a constant pain in the ar*e round here. Cycle three abreast, cut corners, pass close to dog walkers and horses. entitled and arrogant!

I've no real issue with the overtake and beep but what follows. What an absolute tool.

As for the cyclist holding onto the wingmirror, he's just slammed his brakes on and the cyclist wants to reproach him. Why not?

I'm surprised that was just a caution.

There's a longer video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOQXGehciiM

What is obvious is that the driver passed at speed and then slowed right down (almost to a stop) deliberately to get them alongside to have a shout. Personally I'd have waited behind (or at least not gone in front) because you really don't want an angry driver behind a group and having to overtake for a second time.

The cyclist grabbed the mirror previously, possibly to steady themselves while riding at a slow speed, although any competent cyclist would neither need to do this, let alone with an angry driver. Then it looks like they swerved close again, and were definitely intending to fold the mirror in but the driver grabs their arm, folding it in and causing them to fall against the car, where the driver then takes the opportunity to punch them because they were unable to defend themselves.

The driver then, busy punching, hits the cyclist in front.

Def a PH jersey too!
