Ofcom deem "Karen" and "Gammon" offensive terms
Discussion
Nothing wrong with simply offensive. If only half of society had realised that 10 years ago, the world wouldn't be such a mess now.
Gammon refers specifically to race though, so I've always wondered why that's allowed......Well I suppose we know that really don't we.
Coconut (and other similar terms) aren't allowed as it's deem racially demeaning.
Would coco pop (for a sensitive black person) be allowed?
Would vindaloo (for an Indian with a spicy temper) be allowed?
Etc. You get the point.
All pejorative comparisons to food with a racial aspect. Given how sensitive a certain portion of the population are to such things, it's always seemed odd to me....
Inb4 the residents come in to belittle anyone who has an opposing opinion, call them snowflakes...

Statistically, genetically you will have more in common with a person from Asia than your next door neighbour.
So gammon term, defines a person of white skin and red ruddy face who get angry at many things, usually immigration and leftisim.

Care to address the points made in my post?
Gammon refers to attitude not race.chrispmartha said:

Funny how it has to be spelled out.,I think it is a mindset as well, yes the wall of gammon on question time highlighted the issue, but it boils down to a very rigid thinking on certain issues, with no deviation.
I would actually say it is cultural stance.

It is racist and ageist, because it refers to a white male of a certain age. The word "Karen" is applied to any white woman of a certain age who dares to offer an opinion on any subject.Digga said:
I actually don't care if it is racist, which I can see it might be if the intent is to mean middle-aged, pudgy, puce-faced angry white bloke. It's funny and people should keep using the term.
So IF it is racist you are happy to keep using it because it is funny?Interesting. Would you be happy to continue using other racist terms if you considered them funny?
As I have said before, I dont know whether "gammon" is racist or not, even though it is usually only aimed at white people, but it is defiantely a handy tool because it quickly identifies those using it or finding it funny as utter bellends who's opinions can be safely ignored.
