Have the petrol stations run dry where you are yet?
Discussion
The absolute perfect way to guarantee panic purchases of petrol is to say that there is no shortage of petrol. Seems that is working really well.
I’m told by my OH that she is currently queuing for petrol (SW London) - which we need to get a currently empty car to a wedding out of London tomorrow, so not panic buying/hoarding.
Anyone know what the motorway service stations are like? We have to make a trip up North on Sunday, back on Monday. I’ve assumed that the motorway service stations would be prioritised for deliveries. Can anyone confirm whether supplies there generally seem ok and that there is no queuing back to the slip roads?

Station was open this morning when I drove past. Not too worried because I can just ride the motorcycle which runs on the sniff of an oily rag.
Industry created this problem by fundamentally undervaluing HGV drivers. Just looking back to 2018 there where already reports of driver shortages. Now they will have to pay a lot more to dig themselves out by the sound of it.

Chaos at the BP nearest me, big queues and many of the pumps out of action as empty.
I needed some fuel as down to almost the fumes so gave that BP a miss and went to a Texaco instead, it was just as busy with cars queuing into the road.
I blame the media. As soon as they splash about reports of 'breaking news' to report an issue of a tiny fuel supply issue or mention that fuel companies and/or government are saying dont panic buy the seed is sown. Out come the masses to panic buy.

I'm on just under 1/4 of a tank of diesel in my car so I need to fill up later for my weekend driving and getting to and from work next week.
Today's fill was planned before the news so I'm probably going to look like I'm panic buying when I'm not.
Managed to get diesel in the work van at 5:15 this morning so I was happy, gonna have to fill it up again though on Monday, so we'll see how things go.
Driving around today I've only seen one fuel station with a q, off the A46 between Lincoln and Newark. Other than that, things seem normal for a Friday...

Panic buying
s need to be shot in the face.
The problem of course is that nobody thinks they're a panic buyer. They're rushing out to fill their cars to the brim when they don't need to, just in case the panic buyers leave the pumps dry.
s need to be shot in the face.
My parents did it during the great toilet roll crisis of 2020. They bought 5 or 6 massive multi packs "because of all the idiots panic buying" because they didn't want to be left without any.
