These stories won’t go away so why do the west not take action? Individuals could do something particularly with the switch to electric vehicles don’t buy those assembled in China? BMW , Volvo, etc all do

I had hoped as a responce to COVID the world might actually look to buy less stuff from China but it seems we are addicted to cheap goods an tiktok.

I dont think bans on good is a good idea rather people as a whole choosing not to buy goods made there would be better

I boycott China as often as realistically and feasibly possible.

Why wouldn't you?

Are you also going to boycott products made in other countries that commit human rights violations?

Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia. The list goes on and on.

Vehicles produced in China by those manufacturers tend to be for the chinese market only so boycotting them will do nothing.

This. The CCP are repugnant and force Chinese businesses to cooperate with them.

Consequently I avoid buying goods from Chinese owned brands/companies as far as possible, whilst recognising it’s merely a gesture.

Why draw the line at Chinese assembled? A large percentage of your car components will be Chinese made. Seems to be a hard line to draw of you're going down that line.

Certainly the majority of China made cars go to the huge Chinese market, but there are plenty of China made cars available in UK.

UK Tesla Model 3, BMW ix3, MG ZS, MG5, Polestar 2. All Chinese made.

The reason a lot of people do not - see posts above about cars made in China of which people even on a motoring forum (including myself) are unaware - is that they do no know.

Currently, for various reasons, in various industries, the lack of compunction to label the country of origin obfuscates in favour of importers. Certainly in the industry I work in, we see firms giving the impression of being British manufacturers, while actually making/adding value a tiny fraction of the end product.

I can see, in many cases, merely mandating country of origin markings for goods sold in the UK would be a major step.

Those countries are not a risk to surrounding countries due to the size of their armed forces and are not colonizing numerous other countries economically.

There is a temptation to buy cheap tat from China. I try and avoid Chinese goods where there is a quality alternative. Samsung mobiles rather than Huwawai. No Chinese cars.

China are hostile to any questioning if their regime. See the Chinese Australia ongoing dispute for example.

And there would be sod all posts on PH.
Almost all the devices used to engage on here are either made in China or have components that are.

It'd have to be a very selective boycott!
