Quite.

An awesome achievement at 90.

I also liked that there was a lot of stuff on Twitter about people dressing up in Monkey suits for when he landed.

Wrong franchise I know but still hehe

Anyone notice the BBC trying to be clever by writing "the craft safely landed"?

I can't get me breath.

Apparently he is fairly financially clued up and made a fortune from ST and investments etc.
He's nearly at the end of the road so may as well go out with a bit of a blast..

He might bump into an old reptilian friend and they can croon a few tunes together..

I mean, what a guy. I only wish to be sprightly enough to go to space and then hop out of the landing craft with the agility he did at 90.

I think after initially getting out of the capsule he was almost lost for words, probably the first time ever.

Sci-Fi meets reality.

Epic for him!
On another related topic, the man deserves an Oscar for his performances in Boston Legal!

I genuinely can’t think of someone more iconic to send up on a rocket - it’s a real “feel good” story, and for once a positive media coup for Bezos.

I’m absolutely astonished at what shape he’s in both physically and mentally.

May be a coincidence, but last night on the Horror channel there was an episode of Star Trek Series 1 in which the Enterprise somehow finds itself in 1969, and takes on board a US fast jet pilot who had been sent up to investigate a UFO sighting. Said pilot has failed astronaut training and is very happy to get a ride around the sun.

Of all the wealthy people getting rides into space, I think noone could begrudge Shatner.

I’m Denny Crane.

Kudos to Shatner. 90 years young and still trekkin’.

Good on him.

Also as it's a thread about WS, any excuse to post one of my fave Shatner scenes.

Then once he'd composed himself, hamming it up as usual.

Good on him though.

Surely at some point he must have said "Mr Sulu, take us out" or "Space: The Final Frontier"?

60 miles FFS. Hardly the final frontier!

Draw a circle in a piece of A4 as big as you can fit in.
It will be 8 inches in diameter , so the scale is 1 in to 1000 miles .
Now draw a line from the surface representing 60 miles.
Can you see it? A dot of pen would be about right.
In the same scale , the moon is 20 ft away and the sun 330 yards.
