We need a strong opposition party
Discussion
As per the title, we need strong opposition, otherwise we get this sort of government. However, would anyone vote for Labour at the moment, they are sadly, worse than useless.

We need AN opposition party
Right now the only sensible option is a United Party of Opposition in which they all agree not to stand in each others electoral seats.
I'd go one step further and suggest that they have an unelected 'Manager' during what is agreed to be a single term 'Tories Out' campaign.
Manifesto would be:
1. Proportional Representation
other stuff...

For better or worse, surveys show sovereignty is the primary concern of voters these days, both north and south of the border. Until tide turns on that, any successful opposition would need to be 'strong', and ideally win, on sovereignty.
The chances of labour beating either snp or Torys at their own sovereignty game are close to zero. The chances of them beating both at same time are actually zero.
Brexit is going to take at least another five years to process. Scotland at least double that. Assuming opposition parties don’t steal thunder on these issues, we are stuck with current tory and snp governments for multiple terms. With very little pressure on either to keep word on policy.

I feel that the sad truth is that neither of the main political parties are fit to either govern, or oppose.
We seem to exist in a political vacuum at the moment.
Agreed. The biggest problem is how to get people with the necessary skills to stand for parliament, when the main parties are poorly managed, whoever gets in has to contend with civil servants drunk on their own inertia, a media that jumps on any nuance they don't like (real or imagined) and a pay package that - however much it is spun - is very low for the skills required. We seem to exist in a political vacuum at the moment.
I despair for what my son and grandson will be lumbered with.

You eviscerated Corbyn because you wanted Blue Labour.
You believed what you were told.
The choice was yours, now you have to reap what you sowed.
The choice was the "least bad" option...You believed what you were told.
The choice was yours, now you have to reap what you sowed.
Corbyn "we need to increase the wages of the poorest" N,P&E "Boo Communism! "
Johnstone" We need to have a high wage economy" N,P&E "Yay Boris LEGEND ! I'd 'ave a drink wi' 'im"

This attitude is not how to get the Tories out, they barely won the election rather Labour handed it to them by not being in touch with anywhere near a majority of the population. You believed what you were told.
The choice was yours, now you have to reap what you sowed.
Before I’m accused of it, I have never and can’t see myself ever, supporting the conservatives.

Johnstone" We need to have a high wage economy" N,P&E "Yay Boris LEGEND ! I'd 'ave a drink wi' 'im"
Johnson- "we want a more skilled workforce deserving of higher wages"

This basically. The Tories have stolen a march on Labour by espousing what are really quite radical Labour/socialist values and manifesto aims. Corbyn "we need to increase the wages of the poorest" N,P&E "Boo Communism! "
Johnstone" We need to have a high wage economy" N,P&E "Yay Boris LEGEND ! I'd 'ave a drink wi' 'im"
Whether they follow through on them is another matter entirely.
