Poland closes its borders.
Discussion
Poland ups the row with the EU by closing its borders to immigrants, even those that are genuine
refugees, reports the BBC today. Armed guards at its borders with orders to turn back those that cross those borders, even deporting those that have stepped onto Polish soil. Poland now talking of building a permanent wall on their borders. Maybe we will see a EU member Country have its card removed?

Poland is basically doing the same thing as Greece but Greece strangely isn't being condemned as far as I am aware.
Following the increased illegal migration many of the countries on the EUs external border have been increasing border security. In the case of Poland they have the issue of Belarussia making trouble by taking migrants and then dumping them at the Polish border.

Looking at the media. Poland has passed a law which seems to allow border guards to push back those crossing the border even if they claim asylum. We will see if it stands up in court since Poland has signed the UNCR. refugees, reports the BBC today. Poland has also closed it border with Belarus after it alleged the Belarus government was assisting with border crossing.
The border between Poland and its EU neighbours remains unaffected. Poland is a member of Schengen so no border controls.
So unless I have missed something nothing to do with relations between Poland and the rest of the EU.
Seems that Poland is generally happy to accept the financial handouts from the EU, less so in having to abide by the rules and regulations of membership. Just what the powers that be within Brussels will actually action against Poland for its continued ‘middle finger waving’ to its overlords should be interesting. What possible sanctions could they impose upon Poland that wouldn’t create a Polish EU withdrawal. Plenty of ifs and buts to come I suspect.
Makes a change to be an interested bystander rather than required involvement.

Thousands of people from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan and African countries have been trying to cross from Belarus into the EU but have found themselves trapped in a densely wooded border zone with no food or shelter from plunging temperatures.

immigrants. It is openly challenging the EU and UNCR with its border stance, and intends to build border walls. This could be the precursor to Poland throwing in its towel and deciding to be once again an independent Nation. Signing up and being members is not something that Poland will consider to be its priority perhaps.
The power people in Brussels are incandescent with rage at Poland behaviour, to say relation are strained between the two is putting it mildly, it’s getting close to breaking point.
It’s certainly correct that many immigrants merely want to cross Poland into other Countries, Poland dismisses that reasoning.

So I would be surprised if there is any issue with Poland building its own wall. They are no doubt on more shaky legal ground if migrants get in and are then thrown out again.
As for the people in charge in Brussels they have other issues with the government of Poland.

The mainland European Countries are bracing themselves for the Afghanistan refugee crisis which is almost certainly on the near horizon. Poland will not accept them, what other EU member Countries will happily open their front door. Seems it’s wearing a bit thin and requires a different solution, it there isn’t one, as yet.
Certainly agree with the facts that the EU has other issues with Poland.

I thought it was fine for an EU country to close its borders as long as it was temporary, whatever that means. Whether a wall with crossing points (that may well be closed temporarily) is a restriction of FoM I've no idea.

Twelve EU member countries not only are fine with Poland's wall they want the EU to be paying for it.

What ever the rights and wrongs of Polands actions, they are protecting everyone else in Europe and ourselves from this migration, they could take a different approach i.e. welcome them and take them to the next border along.
Guess where they will eventually end up?
There's another country with a reputation for this... which one...wait.I'll get it......I think it begins with F? Guess where they will eventually end up?

The issue being reported on is the external frontier of Poland. Principally with Belorussia but there may be issues with Ukraine that aren't being reported on.
Thanks, I'm surprised they're getting many migrants on that border.Apparently this is a reprisal for sanctions imposed on him.
