Are the US police force anti-vaxxers or is there a problem?

I don't understand why so many are against taking the vaccine, but threatening to sack them, seems extreme?

Don’t see a problem with it. The Covid injections are useful for the vulnerable groups but generally pretty pointless for those who are fit and healthy (some US police fall under fit and healthy).
Majority of the police will be under 40 so I guess they are weighing up the risks of covid versus the risks of vaccine. I certainly know of more people under the age of 40 suffering from the vaccines than covid.
The scary thing is the government demanding to inject them or push them out of a job.

Firstly, I suspect that it is only non-unionized agencies officers that are being threatened. In reality, that means the vast majority of law enforcement can/will not be compelled to vaccinate.
Secondly - and a little more concerning perhaps, is a groundswell in law enforcement that leans more right-wing than ever. Right-wingers are demonstrably more anti-vax as a matter of political principle - and there is a pernicious feeling that the left is anti-police.
I'm not a cop, but my daughter is. She and most of her colleagues either choose not to divulge their vaccination status, or flat-out state they are not and will not be vaccinated.
So in essence, vaccination is promoted and encouraged by the lefties, who hate the police - result - few vaccinated coppers.

It's not just in the USA. The police in Victoria, Australia are also taking a similar stand with more than 40 officers being stood down after refusing the vaccine.
