Not quite what you might be thinking though.

I only go on twitter for data driven things now and some light humour.
Clearly that's how Twitter operates, boost the stuff coming from the right and bring the outrage from the left.I only go on twitter for data driven things now and some light humour.
Twitter is amazing, not for posting or engaging with anyone, just for sitting back and chuckling at the crazies arguing!

Most? Do you see lots of Marxist stuff on Twitter? Who the heck are you following?
Anyway, perhaps lefties just make more of an effort to promote their ideas in order to counteract the fundamental right wing bias the site shows? What do you think of the fact that the site itself is biased?

Just take a look at what ever is trending... That will lead you straight to the rabid left in their echo chamber.
Does it?When I click the trending button just now, I see
Alec Baldwin
GTA
Scottish INdependence
Wear Red Day
Namibia (cricket)
Friday Feeling
Hikaru (Korean pop music I think)
Scraps (from a chippy)
Wearitpink (Breast Cancer Awareness)
Frank Field
As the top 10.
The "Wear Red Day" is apparently about showing racism the red card. There's no doubt some on here that would consider that marxist, but it's not.

So leftwing Twitter pretends is not really leftwing and a leftwing paper continues to spread the BS for the gullible..........Twitter admits bias in algorithm for rightwing politicians and news outlets

"Across seven countries we studied, we found that mainstream right-wing parties benefit at least
as much, and often substantially more, from algorithmic personalization as their left-wing counterparts. In agreement
with this, we found that content from U.S. media outlets with a strong right-leaning bias are amplified marginally
more than content from left-leaning sources. However, when making comparisons based on the amplification of
individual politician’s accounts, rather than parties in aggregate, we found no association between amplification and
party membership.
Our analysis of far-left and far-right parties in various countries does not support the hypothesis that algorithmic
personalization amplifies extreme ideologies more than mainstream political voices. However, some findings point at
the possibility that strong partisan bias in news reporting is associated with higher amplification. We note that strong
partisan bias here means a consistent tendency to report news in a way favouring one party or another, and does not
imply the promotion of extreme political ideology.
Recent arguments that different political parties pursue different strategies on Twitter [19, 32] may provide an
explanation as to why these disparities exist. However, understanding the precise causal mechanism that drives
amplification invites further study that we hope our work initiates."
Twitter is a self-selecting feed - you only get what you follow except for promo, the fact Boris may be top of your timeline while in an alternate universe Starmer may be two posts down from the top in your feed is a bit 'meh' really.as much, and often substantially more, from algorithmic personalization as their left-wing counterparts. 'Strong partisan bias' sources -> higher amplification, quelle surprise, it's almost as if that's the business / psychological / algorithmic model...

Twitter is a great tool, great source of info and perspectives - if you curate it well. If you don't it's a rank, fetid s
thouse displaying the glorious capacity of human lunacy in all it's muddled glory. Like life, it's what you make it.chrispmartha said:

Well if "BS for the gullible" includes Twitter's own paper on their findings then sure I guess so

I only follow people or organisations I’m interested in. Avoid the comments or trending and it’s an awesome source of information.
Anyone complaining about twitter is using it in a way that obviously isn’t working for them.
If you actually want to read comments and what’s trending and click on them, then you can’t really complain at what you read.

Let’s be fair, it’s exactly the kind of ham fisted mental gymnastics you should expect from NP&E by now.
Well it's a bit weird to moan because of the newspaper that wrote the article when it's Twitter's own research.I'd assumed that if you follow lots of right-wing people you'll (obviously) get a biased right-wing feed and the same if you follow lots of left-wing people.
Interesting if their own research points to a bias in either direction but I doubt many people thought that the bias would be towards the right.

I only use Twitter as a news feed. I follow a few competent people.
On the rare occasions I step outside those channels I never fail to be astounded by the tidal wave of stupidity and mindlessness. I've no idea how anyone could tolerate it for its intended use.
I use it like you do too. Who’s to say that’s not it’s intended use? On the rare occasions I step outside those channels I never fail to be astounded by the tidal wave of stupidity and mindlessness. I've no idea how anyone could tolerate it for its intended use.
I just make it work for me, like any social media. If I couldn’t, then I wouldn’t use it at all.

Twitter and other big tech are under pressure as people have figured out their leftwing bias and its openly being discussed in congress. They are now attempting any smokescreen they can to avoid being sanctioned or similar as even some Democrats think they have gone too far. This internal report is such a smokescreen.
Wait until the Zuckerburg election tampering gets more widespread coverage and more investigation as to how the money was directed into Democratic areas in swing districts. https://nypost.com/2021/10/13/republican-outrage-o...
Big tech is influencing elections and filtering news and this is going to end up with some of the companies being forced to break up.
