Blackburn dad-of-six 'lost control' in mallet attack on man
Discussion
This kind of thing is happening far too often
A PETROL station worker hit a man more than 70 times with a rubber mallet during a ‘moment of madness’ in the middle of the night

The "victim" appears to be part of a gang of thieves who refused to leave the shop, hard to feel that much sympathy for him though hitting him 70 times was over the top.
There’s self defence and then there’s …. One is lawful and one isn’t Seemingly battering someone 70 times with a mallet in a ten minute long attack isn’t self defence nor lawful
Payback for all the misery the gang have probably inflicted over the course of their lives.
Action = consequence has been missing in this country for too long.
Imagine the hassle, abuse and utter t
ttery that petrol station guy has soaked up like a sponge over the years of working there, all the stupid w
kers he's dealt with.
The last one simply tipped him over the edge.
I'm amazed it doesn't happen more often given how horrible people are to service workers.

I might be wrong but I suspect this is a race baiting post to catch out people who jump to the wrong conclusion on this without reading the article properly.A PETROL station worker hit a man more than 70 times with a rubber mallet during a ‘moment of madness’ in the middle of the night

This, in spades. Back in 2001/2 I had a flatmate at uni who worked as a late night service attendant at a Shell garage in Edinburgh, on a Friday/Saturday night (1am) I would nip down and collect him, as the late night buses would take him all the way into town then all the way back out again (2 hours), whereas it was a 15 minute run in the car. The stories of verbal and occasionally physical abuse he would endure on a weekly basis from the, ahem, usual suspects was eye opening. The police were regularly informed of these activities, but were at best entirely disinterested, unless an actual bona fide robbery with weapons was taking place. A spot of antisocial behaviour was entirely up to the staff to deal with. When the police would occasionally attend for persistent abuse, they knew all the suspects by name, and would give them a nice lift home in a cosy panda car, and tuck them up in bed all ready for their next bout of malingering. It was widely known but nobody did anything about it. I can understand how the chap in the OP story came to the position he did. Be thankful it was a rubber mallet. Action = consequence has been missing in this country for too long.
