It looks like the low level fishing dispute may soon boil over, with the French ambassador being summoned to explain their actions. France have said that they may escalate and cut power to the Channel Islands.

So, other than nuking Nantes - what can we do?

Drop leaflets over the French countryside telling folk that it's all grandstanding for the Presidential elections.

ban all Eu fishing boats from UK waters..perfectly legal and very effective . it would be over in 24 hours as France would not be able to withstand the pressure from all the other countries fishing fleets...

That’s pretty much it. Macron knows he’s screwed and trying to look strong. As usual they fk around with the “lower classes” in their games.

We wouldn't need to take any sanctions if we hadn't catastrophically undone over 40 years of friendly cooperation with our closest European neighbours.

None of this st was written on the side of a bus though, was it?

We could all start speaking French but completely mangle it, Inspector Clouseau style.

And if my auntie had balls, she’d be my uncle.

Time to move on.

Ha ! friendly cooperation ! That's a good one.

While we were in the cosy rose garden of EU the French blockaded ports, burnt stuff and generally acted like truculent tossers plenty of times.

Just to remind you that we were net contributors to the EU which means we paid in more than we got out. That's now seeming a lot like it was "protection money" rather than "club membership" to a lot of people now we are out.

I switched to Italian Brunello di Montelcino as my palette changed - and get mine delivered direct from Italy ( via Tannico ) quicker and for less than I'd get a equivalent quality Margaux/St Émilion/Pauillac from a UK merchant (they do non-Italian wines too).

A rerun of Mers-el-Kebir with fishing boats might be nice but the reality is that the French will screech noisily but impotently and the British side will mostly ignore them.

Same old same old.

Did your Uncle choose to have his balls removed, and is now surprised that he's been kicked out of the local Choir?

In relation to punishing France can we not start making new episodes of 'Allo 'Allo ?
