Hope not but I guess it’s inevitable, wouldn’t be surprised if the loss of Philip took the wind out of her sails. Bless her, so much respect for somebody who’s devoted their life to public service. Still working into their 90s.

A quite incredible woman to still be doing what she does at 95.

After the shift she has put in my preference would be for her to retire from public life altogether and just live out her remaining time in peace and quiet, but I get the impression she'd be having none of that talk.

Given that she was thrust into this role unexpectedly early as a young woman due to the untimely death of her father, she's devoted pretty much her entire adult life to it. Very far from selfish (Republicans, I hear you, she's had a nice life)

If I was her I'd be wanting to make my Platinum Jubilee on 6th Feb 2022. She's not gonna abdicate a few weeks shy of that, is she!?

She's totally compos mentis, in fact has the demeanour of someone 30yrs her junior, so I expect feels far from ready to hang up her crown.

Me too, she is saving us from Charles, plus her sense of duty will not allow her to step aside.

Whatever you think about the royal family, etc, both her and Prince Philip have put in a prodigious amount of work on behalf of the country and should be heartily commended for that.

How long before her ginger nut grandson and cancel culture tries to airbrush them from history? 5-10 years unless the country starts standing up to these woke wkers.

Bit mean, I cannot think of anyone who’s shown the same commitment as she has. Most people are out for themselves. Non-job? Try spending your whole life doing what you think you should do rather than what you want to.

Suspect she has created far more value for the UK economy than you (or I) will ever do.

I think for some they would want a more transparent monarch, more openness and real connection with all the public, not just the middleclass and above. Australia and Canada will probably leave the commonwealth at her death, a new monarch could inject new energy.

I suspect the lower class are more devoted to the monarchy than the middle class, I cannot see how Prince Charles would inject new energy. I am not a royalist but the Queen has devoted her entire life to the country and deserves recognition for that.

I happen to like Her Maj and think overall she brings the country together so am concerned that the country will lose a much-needed stabilising influence and quickly descend into a darker place even than now when she goes.

Without doubt her passing will provide more fuel for the nostalgic flag-shagging beloved of many.
