Discussion
Another monster caught by the availability of modern day DNA testing techniques..

The BBC report does not mention whether he was a loner, one can assume this must be an oversight.
Just shows that the prudent concealment of your stash of indecent images is paramount
in the avoidance of getting caught with millions of indecent images.
How does an electrician gain access to bodies in a mortuary at all hours ?
Interesting, apparently they identified his brother's DNA as being a close match, and then presumably looked at family and figured out that he was likely their suspect.
There's been several previous instances where long-since cold cases had perfect matches when somebody was arrested for drink-driving and a DNA sample taken.

Murder in 1968, DNA sample extracted in 1996 after trousers kept in freezer for almost 30 years (!), a sample matched when the murderer Brian Field was arrested for drink-driving in 1999.

SD.
Utterly depraved character though, horrible to think that he desecrated at least 99 wives/daughters/sisters over the years.

Sparkys will have access all areas working for estates / FM , so easy done. Probably worked rotating shifts too?Just shows that the prudent concealment of your stash of indecent images is paramount

It's remarkable. There was an Italian rapist who was caught after decades when DNA from the investigation was shared with Italian police. He was done for drink drive. There's been several previous instances where long-since cold cases had perfect matches when somebody was arrested for drink-driving and a DNA sample taken.

This occurred locally and I am very grateful that I haven't had any relatives bodies held in the mortuary at the hospital. The Kent Live website had a reporter attending the trial (it was on day 3 that he changed his plea) and yes it confirms that recent DNA advances enabled them to get a sample from some of the items held. That in turn demonstrated the family link to someones DNA already held so the Police went straight round to David Fuller to arrest him, so they could get his DNA.
It seems that he had already admitted the abuse of the corpses, and were the police have been able to identify relatives they have been notified. However there may be cases they cannot identify etc.
The coverage did explain why he had access to the mortuary and that his actions took place outside the view of the CCTV camers.
The trail was for the 2 murders, he admitted he killed the two young ladies, but pleaded diminished responsibility but on day 3 changed his plead and admitted to murder.
All so harrowing fro the victims relatives.

Thee will be routine checks to be done everywhere, plus ongoing maintenance and repairs.
I've worked in loads of sensitive buildings (hospitals, government buildings, airports, stations, even security services). We pretty much had access everywhere.

I don't understand why the Police are informing the surviving relatives. Surely they're better off not knowing (aside from the murder victims relatives)?
I wouldn't want to know!
Yes adds nothing really.I wouldn't want to know!
