Festival in Texas organised by 'singer' / rapper Travis Scott which turned to tragedy as 8 were effectively crushed to death after a stampede.
There are videos circulating on social media of Scott standing on a platform performing clearly in view of someone receiving CPR / screams of help and stop the show bellowing out.
The show however carried on for a while before the rapper stopped.
All sorts of conspiracies flying about that this was a ritual sacrifice (due to pictures / stage design / previous concerts/history) and some of the actions of Scott.
Pretty horrific stuff but is this nothing more than a tragic accident or is there something more to it?

Ockham says it's an accident; crush deaths occur now and then at large events, especially if the layout of the public areas, exits, entrances etc. is not done properly. Once a large mass of people start moving it's not possible to stop it. The rumours about someone stabbing people with hypodermics just smacks of moral panic in the absence of any evidence at all.

It sounds like a bad set of circumstances, but I can imagine (and would hope) it's an accident.
Not stopping the show is poor form, but I've been at a couple gigs in the past which have stopped as a singer has seen one person in the crowd take a big hit, and I've been caught in the middle of a clump of 50-100 people where a whole mosh pit basically fell over and everything kept going despite needing a few minutes to get a good chunk of the crowd back on their feet.

t at his concerts, I'm not sure it can be described as 'an accident'. Newsweek said:
In 2017 he was arrested and accused of inviting fans to bypass security and rush the stage at a show at the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion in Rogers in Arkansas.
The rapper faced three misdemeanor charges of inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a minor at the time, according to the Los Angeles Times
While in 2015, he pleaded guilty to reckless conduct charges following a 2015 incident at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.
His set only lasted five minutes before being cut short and police intervening.
Footage from the show shows Scott saying: "Middle finger up to security right now." Before leading the crowd in a chant of "We want rage."

He does seem like a proper tool, he's encouraged crowds to force their way into venues, rush barriers, and cause chaos on several occasions, he already has a case against him I believe when a fan fell or was pushed from a balcony and ended up part-paralysed, there's another clip of him verbally berating event staff (a photographer I think?) on stage at a gig... A few years ago he was fined a devastating ~$7000 for similar behaviour..
He clearly knew things were getting out of hand but seemed to make very little effort to calm things down or address the safety of the fans, it just screams of typical narcissistic celebrity behaviour.
A lot of his fan base typically are trying to absolve him of any blame, stating it's entirely on the event organisers.. Without knowing every detail it's hard to say for certain but I think at least some blame lies with both parties. Medical staff seem to have been doing their best to help people but the crowds were already crushing and overwhelming security, and it seems like a bit of a drug free-for-all which isn't going to help deescalate situations like this..
It's a whole mess and sadly 8 people have lost their lives..

There were reports of people getting jabbed with needles of opiates in the crowd. A fireman (?) rendering assistance was jabbed with a needle as such and needed to be given Narcan.
I'm fascinated how CSI Houston have sprung into action and conclusively proven that not only were people assaulted with hypos but established what they were injected with; as opposed to the far more mundane and more likely explanation of a person being stabbed with an unknown pointed object and then given Narcan on a precautionary basis?Okay Colombo you can put your found-a-mistake-boner back into your pants:

Note that Fentanyl can be extremely concentrated and some first responders and medical staff have had an unwanted dose of it from handling patients with it on their skin.

My mistake, I thought People.com would suffice but alas it doesn't seem to. Here's the same thing being reported by your number 1 news source: https://edition.cnn.com/2021/11/07/us/houston-astr...
It's being reported by CNN so it must be true!

Where does it say anything about what was injected? Nowhere. The chap became unconscious after being struck on the neck, the medics believed they saw a needle mark so they administered Narcan on a precautionary basis. Until they report otherwise we have no idea what if anything he was injected with, he may have just been knocked out by a blow to the neck. The power of suggestion is remarkable. It's being reported by CNN so it must be true!
