A number of the 'insulate Britain' protesters have had ink thrown over their heads, including a priest wearing his dog collar. Obviously this will stay with them for months I imagine. Is this a legitimate response to those who wish to legally protest at whatever issue they choose?

Initially I qualified the 'yes/no/maybe' responses with a subtext but quickly realised this might 'load' replies, so I figured it's best to let PH provide it's own judgement....

should have used anti vandal paint that stains the skin for 3 months and held up a stencil that said tt whilst applying it

Bring back Maggie, the SPG would have battened them off the road in under 30 seconds

Is glueing yourself to the motorway 'legally protesting'?

If this was Reddit, I would expect my comment to be downvoted to hell.

My answer - absolutely they do, providing the ink doesn't cause any harm to them. However, with that being said, the protestors have stopped emergency services from getting through, so in all honesty, I couldn't care what happens to them.

I'm honestly amazed none of these knuckle draggers hasn't been run over yet, but that's only a matter of time.

I cannot explain the rage that these guys give me when I see their stupid, nonchalant faces on the news.

Their stupid protest has done the opposite of what they wanted. Yes, they have raised awareness for insulating homes, but they have pissed off an entire nation.

They can truly get fked.

Honestly don't care either way.

What do you expect? If I fly to a different country and disrespect their flag, religion, culture, I'd be stupid not to expect retribution. Same with IB, they are escalating their actions and one of them will end up being physically assaulted.

These haven't been peaceful protests - they've unnecessarily purposefully disruptive (I appreciate thats pushed their 'cause' to the mainstream media with full focus but that doesn't make it right or legal)

I think ink being thrown at them is somewhat lucky, pull those tricks in certain parts of the country and there would have been much greater ramifications to their behaviour and 'protest stance'

Protest all you want but when it becomes a threat to the safety and the daily lives of innocent parties, frankly I e little sympathy. Like the idiots who blocked a main route into Glasgow the other day... inconveniencing many including the services needed to deal with them. It's like many things, once a certain few take it too far it becomes an issue that shouldn't be tolerated and I can understand that Joe public will get annoyed and retaliate, more so as these days of health and safety it may appear like the authorities are doing nothing.

Whether 'tis legal or not disrupting others' lives is bound to cause conflict. I abhor abuse of any kind but isn't ink throwing the stupid prize for playing stupid games?

i know the general feeling is much angst and would do nasty things to them but we all know we all would really sit there and quietly seeth.

that said if i get called up for jury service and the case is someone inflicting pain and injuries on one of this lot then their walking out the door free.

No matter what you think people should be allowed to demonstrate without violence.

We need to look at our over reliance on cars and over consumption of new and shiny gifts, presents etc etc.

Why do we still accept plastic wrapped vegetables and fruit in supermarkets? Is that normal? Does someone magic take all the waste away and cover it in fairy dust?

Environmental protests stopping you from getting wear? Not everyone is going to that essential hospital appointment.

I couldn't agree with you more. However, these protestors have purposely chosen ways to piss people off. If they chose to protest in an orderly manner, then the majority of people would reason with them. But, these people haven't done that and in fact, they've isolated a lot of people from their cause. I for one, couldn't give a toss about them or their cause now. Houses are insulated anyway, so I fail to see their point.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the protestors is run over or beaten up.

If there are rights to protest, then there are responsibilities - if the Police close whole streets then that is fine. Glueing yourself to motorway access points to cause gridlock isn't . IB have said they would allow blue light vehicles through, and then changed their mind when one turned up. This shows their true colours as scumbags rather than environmental protestors.

+1

You've summed IB up nicely there, they are scumbags.

Lucky it's only been ink so far, as I'm sure this will give others an idea to build from...

I don't agree with their way of protesting

there are time to use sword over a pen,

if anything it should be the police force to tackle them not us throw ink at them

TBH I'm surprised that was the worst that was done to them.

With everything that's happened over the past 2 years deciding that disrupting the lives of normal people again seems a very poor call and unlikely to have a positive affect.

I think they should have something more than Ink!!!!

They block people getting around, causing further pollution and emissions by means of causing traffic and police don't seem to care

So screw them in my opinion!

I don't think throwing ink at them is acceptable so I've answered No - I'd be fine with something less permanent like eggs and flour.
