Public transport my Harry hole
Indeed.Public transport my Harry hole
I see its now "shared transport" because that sounds so much better then public transport!!!!
No doubt though, she will retain her car. One assumes "shared transport" is only for proles.
And if it involves using a smart phone, im knackered before it even starts.................
They mean this;
“Shared transport is the key to a more sustainable future for the UK, enabling people to use transport without the need to own it – shifting to resources such as car clubs, bike share, shared rides and demand responsive transport – with a lower impact on the environment and transport infrastructure."
They don't want you to have the convenience of owning a car which makes the car the default choice. They want to make going by car as inconvenient as the options they'd rather you used.

Last time I took a bus was about 3 years ago as there was a wine tasting event at Magestic, 5 miles from here.
Filthy, rattled like an ACME earthquake pill, 'free WiFi' was slower than a dialup modem, driver was grumpy & kept slamming on the brakes. Temperature was wrong, seats apparently designed by sadists & it took over half an hour to cover the 5 miles.
If someone would come up with a slick rapid transport system, that was frequent, clean, with decent seats, aircon, & actually went to my destination at the time I needed to get there & was cheap, I'd definitely think about it. Oh, & it would need proper facilities for lugging my supermarket shopping around.
Meanwhile, I'll keep my car thanks.

I've used the local trains here in London quite a bit thanks to gridlocked traffic all day long.
Thought I was being sensible although it's fekin expensive.
I'd say 70% of my trips have involved delays and cancellations.
Only this afternoon a ten minute wait for my train ended up being 40 minutes because it was delayed due to the people sharing the journey having a fight further up the line.

Indeed. At 1.24 min he actually says, the objective is to stop people buying cars.“Shared transport is the key to a more sustainable future for the UK, enabling people to use transport without the need to own it – shifting to resources such as car clubs, bike share, shared rides and demand responsive transport – with a lower impact on the environment and transport infrastructure."

If they want wider utilisation of public transport, the responsibility is on them to make it 'not st'.
Im not sure you are with the program. What they are going to do is make car use more expensive and more st than public transport. Then it will look like a viable option. There is NO possibility that public transport outside a big city will ever be anything but st.
Which is likely the real intent. To stop you travelling at all.
