Dies with Omicron not of. We have no idea if they were vaccinated or what actually caused their demise. South Africa the largest Omicron breakout that has had it 4 times longer than us has had no deaths from that variant.

But lets keep the panic up yes, the people need to have something to worry about, it helps to cover up the real stories.

Indeed.

This reporting is deeply unhelpful, and serves the singular purpose of stoking fear and panic. Even worse, to have it writ in stark red, as "BREAKING NEWS" is appalling.

Wholly reprehensible.

I have deleted all my news apps, and don’t watch the news anymore. The scaremongering from the media has reached new heights.

As with all the variants so far and all the variants to come, we will have to get used to this.

In other news, c 400 people will die of cancer today, c 460 from heart disease, c 180 from dementia and c 5 from road traffic accidents

Some stats on how many NHS appointments will have been cancelled today in favour of jabbing would be interesting, too.

Have you not read the news, only Covid deaths are important anymore. We need to spend all our efforts giving everyone yet another dose of a vaccine that nobody is sure actually works and forget about treating anything else.

If thousands of people die because their cancer treatments are cancelled it will be worth it to give 92 year old Mavis who is in a care home, sts in a nappy and has no idea where she is a few more months.

Plus people were getting less terrified of Covid, and a terrified population are easier to control. It is clear the government don't believe their own propaganda when they are off having parties and laughing about it whilst telling people they cannot visit their dying parents in hospital.

Well that's one way to deal with it, I suppose.

Do you put your fingers in your ears and shout 'la la la', too?

Choosing not to be bombarded with a constant (and it IS constant) stream of negativity, isn't the same thing as putting one's fingers in one's ears and shouting "la la la".

A break from the "news" is actually very cathartic.

But don't let that get in the way of your snark.

Bojo the clown tells us to be worried..................so the person who sadly passed away was likely to be extremely elderly, already at death's door, and happened to test positive for a more transmissible variant right before the end.

Thoughts from me:

- they are still someone's family member, so condolences

- but one death of someone who has it...the only way it's newsworthy would be assuming statisticians have been desperate for someone to finally die of it, to validate their predictions

- I don't think there's any grand "plan" about why fear must be stoked (or indeed, what anyone will really achieve when fear has been sufficiently stoked) ..I think it's just lots of individuals in official roles who would rather err on the side of caution

- I saw a good Facebook meme: get the jab because it works, but get the booster because it doesn't work, and those with jabs are protected, but the unjabbed need to get jabbed to protect those that have already been jabbed!

Bizarre times still
(Ps my booster is booked)
