My mother’s local conservative group was asked to send some volunteers to assist with the campaigning there.

She didn’t go but some of her friends did.

“People won’t even talk to us. Won’t take a leaflet. We are stuffed” the local big boss man said.

I suspect the Tories are going to lose this. Who to, though, I'm not sure. And by how much...

Turning over that sort of majority will be a big kick in the balls, but in the circumstances not unsurprising. A big win by one of the others will be a bigger wake up call.

Would it be the biggest ever swing if they lose this?

True, but I got the most important one, Megatron?
I merely looked at the old numbers, not the current standing lot, how many off this list have a serious chance?

Heritage James Elliot
Monster Raving Loony Alan "Howling Laud" Hope

No description Yolande Kenward

If ever there was a case for non-Tories to put their actual allegiances aside for a day, and vote tactically just this once to depose the Tory, this is it.

Live on the edge of this area, normally lots of Patterson boards up, especially on the roads next to farms, I have seen 1 lot for the Conservative bloke this time. Depending how the protest vote spread goes I can see this going to the Lib Dumbs, Cons have lost this one I think.

Are there any other North Salopian PHers? We've been getting loads of stuff through the door, some via the regular post but mainly direct leafleting. My mental maths has the LDs are ahead in the "stuff through the door" count by some distance. I think yesterday we had 7 items of election material (from a variety of the parties).

We had one note from the LD candidate yesterday which had what looked to be a hand written envelope (a very clear font choice if it was printed) with our names and address on but I don't remember if having a stamp.

Conservative 35,444 and Liberal Democrats 5,643, that's some pretty big catch up!

If the tories want to ensure a comprehensive victory in the NS by-election then they need to get Bozza up there and out on the streets. He is a proven success when it comes to elections and I think he could keep the tory vote strong.

Maybe he could throw a party or two for those traditional tory voters that are considering whether to vote or not?

Bookies make the Lib Dems favourites yet there is no voting button for them?

Tory candidate has been told by central office not to give interviews because he knows little about the constituency.

The most openly right wing person I've met in real life was from North Shropshire ("Nazi Jen") so if the Cons don't re-take it then something has gone wrong with the world.

BBC radio did a vox pop in this constituency a few days back (after BJ's most recent faux pas) and a lot of serial Tory voters were struggling to guarantee that they would go the usual way this time. I imagine they will ultimately do that because that's what people do but the word 'trust' and the lack of integrity was consistently mentioned.

Its my patch and I expect the Tory's to win, but I don't want that. The population round here don't seem to care much who wins, they just say whats the point voting the Tory's always win.

Very few of the candidates are local, most have been shipped in from somewhere else. There is a rumour the Tory bloke has been told not to talk to the press as he doesn't know enough about the area. The libs should win as they have been filling up everyone's mailbox for weeks now, far more rubbish from them than any other party.

I voted for someone local as at least they will be able to find North Shropshire when they have to visit. Not sure the Tory bloke will be able to find his way here without help.
