Call for the return of Furlough

I am sick of the areas that want to be independent yet are happy to suck up money from London, the London they hate.
It isn't just Scotland. There was always going to be a campaign to put us back into lockdown in winter and you can't have lockdown without Furlough unless you want to cause further damage to affected sectors.
As a freelancer in my business my work fell off a cliff in March 2020, no idea why!!??
Things are just starting to pick up but are a mere fraction of the amount of work I had, yet idiots want us to shut up shop again.
I'm getting on and can see my chosen career, that I have been involved in for 30 odd years, in tatters.
To say I'm angry is a massive understatement. The radio is mentioning Omicron for the umpteenth time as I write this. Fek Off!!

If Scotland can afford a furlough then let them crack on.
Reality is they can't without full backing from #10 as that's where the money comes from.
They have control of their own budget, so they could cut other internal funding to pay for a workable furlough, if they truly wanted to.Reality is they can't without full backing from #10 as that's where the money comes from.
I am guessing that it’s just another vote winning soundbite for the SNP.
If they get it, it won’t be them that pay for it, but they will take ALL credit for it.
And if they don’t, it’s because the nasty English said no.

I hear news of Scotland asking for the return of furlough, and i suspect many would welcome it, but surely there can't be any more money left?
This is totally unsustainable.
My crude understanding of economics is that the govt can essentially invent huge sums of money out of thin air - but that obviously risks inflation/collapse of the economy if done irresponsibly. I don’t think there’s some bank account which is now running dry. This is totally unsustainable.

There wasn't any money in the first place, our children and grandchildren will be paying for it. Whatever the solution is it needs to involve the economy getting back to normal, not shutting it down again. This is totally unsustainable.
It'll be a couple quid thrown to directly affected sectors in the next lockdown. VAT (big deal, 12 or 20% on zero sales makes no difference), extension of business rates relief, that'll be about it.
Nowt drastic, he had to fly back anyway because the papers LOVE dragging people back off holibobs, and he needs to be here to smarm about a bit whilst Bozza's in the doghouse

That’s most of the U.K. that’s a net drain on the economy including most of England not just Scotland. London obviously also needs the rest of the U.K. to function though so it’s a bit simplistic to view it a separate entity.
I’m all for furlough being extended to affected industries. The first one was too general but there wasn’t enough time to make it specific. Now we know which businesses are affected or not, so could easily extend it to them if there’s going to be more lockdowns and restrictions.
Why do I get the impression that people calling for furlough are those that either directly benefit from it or aren't affected either way?
The massive cost of all these COVID related problems worries the f
k out of me.
Most people think the government is like a rich parent with an unending bank account.

I was reading yesterday HMRC has already commenced the process of trying to recover 2.5bn in furlough fraud from the last giveaway orgy - some of that might fund the next round of fraudulent claims, and so it goes on.
Hopefully they’ll be very successful in recovering it. Some industries have been massively affected and the furlough money was a real lifeline.

Fine and dandy having a nice holiday - but someone (ie. the middle classes) has to pay for this.
Absolutely no need for any of this.
