Former BBC producer escapes jail term.
Discussion
For me this has to represent some kind of watershed moment for the BBC.
If you watch BBC news you’d think the only things happening in the world today are unvaccinated Tennis stars, Prince Andrew & Downing street parties.
Meanwhile Russia is on the brink of invading Ukraine & this odious individual escapes jail & it doesn’t get mentioned at all.
Former BBC producer, worked on Newsnight & Panorama had 800 child abuse images on his computer, also found with Stun Guns & CS Gas in his possession.
Escapes jail as he is frail at 75.
So that’s OK then. FFS.
It seems strange that he escapes jail because he's frail, yet it seems fairly normal if you just have pictures on your computer to end up with a suspended sentence.
We've had two cases in work, one last week and one a few years ago, on both ended up doing suspended sentences/community service and a fine.

I should clarify it wasn’t mentioned at all on the TV.
When a teacher at my old school was convicted of a similar offence it wasn’t mentioned on the TV either, it isn’t really worthy of the national news as dozens of such offences are convicted every week, you just want to have a go at the BBC.Derek Smith said:

Normal for BBC.
They come in all walks of life. Using this as a means of attacking the BBC is a bit, you know, sad. For you. Please spare us one of your boring two page anecdotes. They're a bit, you know, sad. For you. (sic)

This is Gill’s statue from 1933. Where it wasn’t really known until the late 1980s about his diaries?
You simpletons.
Who know's who knew at the time? You simpletons.
Not really simpleton thinking is it, to think the BBC might attract wrong'uns.
Even after 30 years after it was made public what an abhorrent person he was, the statues still stand.
Yet Jimmy Saville, statues down with in days, history was rewritten quicker than Katie Price's knickers falling down...yet everyone is a simpleton, take a look in the mirror maybe?
The BBC has history in all this type of stuff.

I think you need to work on why you think this is a BBC issue rather than a societal one.
It’s absolutely a societal issue. And I get that the majority would rather froth over tennis or Prince Andrew than Ukraine.
However I am surprised that when the BBC went guns blazing for Cliff Richard that this never even got a mention.
I’m far from some crazed right wing anti-BBC loon.
I just thought it was conspicuous by it’s absence.
