Will you continue to wear a mask in public after Jan 27th?

Once more, the mask mandate has been dropped in England. I thought it might be interesting to run the exact same poll as last time and see whether people's attitudes have changed (either way, for or against).

If the mods wish to close the other mask thread currently running rather than have two on the same subject that is, of course, fine by me.

I'm not sure why a dentists waiting room makes much difference, anyone there will be opening their mouth at some point anyway!

I refused to wear once when Plan B was announced because I didn't see the need to so no change for me today. It needs to stay a personal choice now.

I can see this being policy at my place of work too, it was when it was previously dropped, however it broadly wasn't adhered to unless the MD made an appearance.

I shan't be wearing one elsewhere though.

I think it will be interesting to see what the ratio is in supermarkets today, and how that changes over the next few weeks. I seem to remember that last time the mandate was dropped, a good 85% kept their face coverings on anyway for quite a few weeks, and I don't think it ever dropped below about 50% before the next mandate was brought in.

Talking of which, I also think it will be interesting to see how long it is this time before we get another The Science following mask mandate...

It should, in my opinion always have been personal choice, which should be respected.

I'm pro mask and pro choice (I choose not to wear them, apart from healthcare settings)

I'm pro vaccine and pro choice (i'm triple jabbed)

Plan B measure masks, IMO were 30% ignored going by what I personally saw in shops etc, I did not feel the odd one out not wearing a mask this time around.

As before, I’ll wear one if the place I’m using/visiting asks me to.
Their supermarket/post office/dentist/office/pub or whatever, their rules.

Don’t really care what others choose to do or not do - no reason to get your knickers in a twist either way.

I went to my dentist yesterday. The sign on the door said masks required but on entering I noticed that neither the receptionists nor the manager were masked so I removed mine while sat in the waiting room. My dentist wore a mask though.

Fair enough.

I'm anti mask and pro choice (I choose not to wear them, except in some settings where it would do more harm than good from a perception perspective, including some healthcare settings).

I'm pro vaccine for those who want it. And pro choice (I'm triple jabbed but don't want another until I need it for my own safety, and am concerned about the unknown impact on the immune system of 2, 3 or 4 of these jabs each year for years on end).

Mask compliance has definitely been falling quite a bit here in SW London over the past month. Omicron being caught by everyone has helped with the "let's just get on with our lives" feeling.

I think a lot of businesses will be putting 'request' signs up to that they can't be accused of 'dangerous practices' by those who believe in the masks.

As per your experience, I'm not sure that means that they're really bothered whether you do or not.

Same as I've always done - I'll wear them if the place I'm visiting asks for them to be worn, otherwise I won't bother.

Masks have never bothered me that much and it seems (to me) just good manners to wear one if you're in somebody else's house/shop/business if they've asked for it.

Yes that’s my experience. I had Covid very mild a couple of weeks ago, Mrs BC tested positive yesterday with no symptoms at all.

Oddly enough, the November 2021 legislation specifically EXCLUDED, as "places where face coverings need not be worn", "premises (other than registered pharmacies) providing wholly or mainly medical or dental services, audiology services, chiropody, chiropractic, osteopathic, optometry or other medical services including services relating to mental health".

Not worn one really since before Christmas- not because I’m an anti-masker or anything, I just do so if asked or if everyone else is, however nobody has been wearing them anywhere. So neither have I.
