The outcome of this will be fascinating, based only on the article as reported . . .

I am surprised Biden hasn't already made it even easier for them and handed them the keys to a brand new one.

Another one. And during take-off too?

Has a software update gone wrong...?

It was during landing. Apparently the arrestor wire failed.

Ie nothing to do with the UK F35B loss.

which was caused by a rain cover getting sucked into the engine...
QE is back in Portsmouth now, the crew member that posted the video was arrested...

It took them some time to get that one recovered...

This post reeks of deperation. He has absolutely nothing to do with it, but you just need to get your petty little dig in. laugh

Nope, all these articles from within the past year or two:

https://www.defensenews.com/smr/hidden-troubles-f3...

And I well remember the original concept being sold as a generic easy to adapt robust plane that would be far easier and cheaper to make and fly than the F22.

Which has been a laughable claim for many years.

There's an interesting thread (edited to add : UK f35 pilot eject thread) in the planes subforum that talks about the f35 in more detail and by people with more knowledge. Why don't you post your claims in that subforum/thread?

All I said was "it's not very good is it"

To which someone replied "why"

And I answered. ITT as it only seemed polite.

I've never quite understood the whole race to recover thing, I appreciate it makes me seem a bit dense....

China trying to recover it before the USA does is surely just an outright act of espionage. Why wouldn't the US just issue a statement to them saying "leave it alone! It is ours and we will recover it. Do not attempt to recover it yourselves"? Surely no other nation would view this as unreasonable to do?

I do realise that the world isn't that simple and no nation wants to be seen as being aggressive, but this situation always seems odd to me somehow.

China would say it's within their rights to recover it.

I think that’s right, marine salvage is fair game for whoever recovers it though they don’t automatically assume ownership for it, the owner would have to pay them to get it back

Not before, in this case China got what they wanted from it
