5 year old boy trapped in Well.
Discussion
I can’t see another thread on this but I suspect it will be headline news by this evening.
The stuff of nightmares, a 5 year old boy in Morocco who has fallen 32 metres inside a narrow well. Happily he is seemingly alive and rescuers are busy excavating alongside the well before tunnelling laterally to access the victim.
I can’t think of a single good news story so far in 2022 - hopefully the news out of Africa in the next few hours will buck this trend….

I just came to the news thread to look for a post on this!
Seems like an incredible operation to get him out - falling down a 25cm diameter hole over 100ft is the stuff of nightmares. They seem to be doing a good job and I’m surprised by how much knowledge and machinery they have - is there international support like the last cave mission in the Far East?
ETA - I didn’t intentionally mean to copy “stuff of nightmares”!

Have they been able to get food and water to him? You'd think if a boy could fall through so could a bottle of water and a bar of something. I suppose oxygen is going to be an issue down there as well though. Sounds horrendous anyway and I hope they can get him out in time.
Apparently they have lowered food, water and an oxygen mask but they are not sure whether he's been able to use them.moorx said:

When my son was 5 I don’t know if he’d go for a bottle of water - but hopefully basic instinct will kick in. Also - getting o2 down is one thing - but how do you prevent co2 building up? Hopefully there’s enough flow of air. I’ve been following this from the start. As the father of a 5 year old boy it has been heartbreaking to read. They are so close to getting him, but i did also see that he had stopped moving. I’m praying for a happy outcome for this little one…. i can’t begin to imagine what he must be going through….

I don't know what 'Skippy alerted the authorities' means, would someone be kind enough to explain this, please?
“Child stuck in the well” was a standard theme of hero animal TV programmes like Lassie. “Skippy” was a kangaroo in such a programme. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TimmyI...

Lots of live feeds on Facebook, seems like they are very close to getting him out. Fingers crossed.
Reports are saying they have reached himhttps://www.unilad.co.uk/news/rescuers-reach-fivey...
