Got to love some people’s nerve. This kiwi was caught doing 175 kmh in a 100 kmh limit, was racing someone, has convictions for bad driving going back 20 years, has even been in prison for dangerous driving yet complained that just 18 months suspended license was too harsh:

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/hawkes-bay-today/news/c...

Based on his history this guy will speed the day he gets his licence back so it seems nuts that he can’t be suspended indefinitely.

??
On our roads that is on the looney side, on the Hamilton/Auckland express way thats not scary.

But even single lane farm tracks in the UK are better than some of our state highways.

So they're not supposed to enforce the speed limits there?

They measured 175 but he admitted 195 so closer to 120 mph. In the dark. On a road with no lights.

Which is something like 2 seconds viewing range

So essentially he's giving himself and anything spotting him, 2 seconds to get out of the way!

Assuming he takes the average of 3/4 second to apply his brakes, he's braking for just 1 second

A moments googling shows the road to be a long straight and very rural location with excellent visibility and sight lines

So, 120 mph in the middle of nowhere on an empty straight road

Judging by the tyre marks on the road it’s possibly somewhere the local boy racers use .. hence the police activity

Speed in and of itself isn’t dangerous .. inappropriate speed is though

I for one find it hard to get exorcised over some
Lad giving his car a bit of stick on an empty straight road in the middle of nowhere

It wasn’t an empty road. He was racing against someone.

Doesn't really matter, given he'll see 100m with full beam regardless of how empty it is.

Wildlife perhaps?

Pot hold?

Bit of random tree?

Go for it, I for one will not be doing 100mph+ with less than 2 seconds to avoid anything, but crack on smile

Isn’t the phrase on here “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”? Yes he won…an 18 month ban.
