Surely, such a high profile Russian should be humiliated as soon as possible and banned from the UK with his assets frozen, including his ownership of Chelsea FC?

I wonder how that would impact Chelsea FC if this were hypothetically to happen?

We could always invite Dynamo Kiev to move to London and take Chelsea's place if they went tits up?

Small mercies, bright side and all that.

Not sure asset seizure because of ethnicity is a brilliant idea.

Hasn’t he fallen out with Putin? Aren’t all these U.K. based Russians here for this reason?

Sanctions against a high profile friend of Putin is an obvious action, not because of ethnicity, because of his friendship...

Is it justified to just take peoples assets because they are friends with someone who has done something bad?

I don't necessarily think Abramovic's assets should be confiscated, just frozen pending Putin's downfall....

Trouble where do you stop, lets look at our Queen or Boris's dad, rich people don't make money altruistically.

In this particular instance we can stop at a few people close to Putin.

We can sort the Queen out after.

The thing is, he could have been stopped before buying Chelsea, nothing has changed, everyone knew his past,, but capitalism has a price, and generally having a st load of money means no one cares where it came from.

The Queen wealth is directly linked to slavery, that is much worse than a tin-pot dictator, Putin is only acting like a Royal, so when we start calling out people then we can't stop at one person, surely?

There's a list of oligarchs to target, don't think the Queen is on it.

In March 2020, Abramovich turned over the Stamford Bridge Millennium Hotel to the NHS so that staff working all hours at nearby hospitals could stay and eat free of charge. He also fully funded a West London refuge for victims of domestic abuse that were running flat out as WFH increased the number of victims. This was after his ability to travel to the UK was severely restricted by Theresa May following the Salisbury attack. He has also supported a range of other West London charities since he bought Chelsea FC.

Wikipedia names him as having given more to charity worldwide than any other living Russian. Meanwhile, the PM and his cronies partied, Cummings went of family days out to check his eyesight, and Hancock was groping his mistress in the corridor.

These days he's mainly resident in Portugal and Israel, having reportedly fallen out with Putin, so seizure of his assets in London, Including the football club, will be but a minor inconvenience. Chelsea FC will probably be gifted to Marina Granovskaia, who basically runs the club with Bruce Buck these days anyway. She's a Canadian citizen and she will be trusted to take ownership on his behalf.

The club is no longer reliant on Abramovich's money, and has been run as an actual football club for quite a few years now, surviving on gate receipts, transfer income, tv money and prize money to fund payer purchases and wages.
