Let me make it plain from the outset I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in either Doctor Who , his or her Ethnicity or indeed Sexuality but
this Constant PC Agenda of the BBC I am beginning both tiresome and completely predictable . Am I alone in this ? Its a bit like Politics and this quota system we follow in order they say to make Parliament more reflective of Society , its been a complete disaster . The Police is another . Whatever happened to People getting the job entirely on merit and capability ? Britain I fear is in danger of going under the waves if this deluded nonsense continues

To be fair....

I haven't watched Dr Who for years, probably since Tennant.

But the future Dr has been absolutely brilliant in everything I've seen them in and will probably watch it.

I don't think this is a PC decision. He's a brilliant actor.

If you see that the next doctor is a black guy and think it's the BBC being "PC" have you considered perhaps the it isn't the BBC that's the problem?

Have you considered that the show's producers might be telling the truth when they say he dazzled them in his audition?

Racist much...

Gatwa is a brilliant actor (seems like an around good guy too) and has won and been nominated for a load of awards so despite being young has 'chops'.

Well this doesn’t appear to be going how the OP may have thought.

Didn't take long frown

He's been fantastic in Netflix's sex ed, and I'm sure he'll be equally brilliant in this new role.

Agreed. I'm still not bothered about watching the show, but he's a very good actor.

To paraphrase your opening statement, you have no interest in ethnicity and sexuality, but it's PC anyway?

I'm sorry that modern British society doesn't reflect the situation of 1970's, perhaps you should just stick to forces tv and box sets of 1970's dramas?

It doesn't matter who the actors are, as long as they cast them in the right roles and start finding some decent scripts.

You literally started a thread to complain that in 2022 a black man has been given an acting role.

Apparently "Britain I fear is in danger of going under the waves" because that has happened.

We're not the ones with the problem here dude.

Its nothing to do with colour , its about to do with this idea that you can run an effective Government , Police Service or indeed BBC when its not based upon anything else other than a meritocracy . Do you understand that ?

Why would you think he didn't get the role on merit?

Careful, the same people who'll tell you we live in a wholly corrupt and biased patriarchy will clamour to inform you no bias could possibly exist when it aligns with their worldview and you're evil and deluded for even thinking it could.

I think I made it plain in my initial post my complete disinterest in Doctor Who or who plays the character and what I am alleging regarding the BBC is hardly News is it ? Sadly the same old woke turnips jump on a Poster stating a completely valid point of view .

In your opening post you asked "Whatever happened to People getting the job entirely on merit and capability ?"

What makes you think he didn't get the role on merit and capability?

If you want to call me a woke turnip that's fine by me I've been called far worse but I think you're embarrassing yourself a bit here to be honest.

Clearly I dont know how capable he was in comparison to others interviewed for the Post or indeed if any others were interviewed for the Post and neither do you .
