What a horrific and tragic attack by a stranger whilst she was walking on the street. Hope the killer gets the full force of the law.

More details

Sounds like he tried to rape her and then killed her. Horrific.

Well, we know he was from Dagenham because he gave his address to the court.. the press don't report the full address for obvious reasons.

It's utterly depressing that most women don't feel safe being out on their own at night.

You shouldn't need schools to teach boys how not to be a prick when grown up, but they sadly obviously do.

Hopefully things will improve as I've noted my Son is covering stuff like that in one of his lessons.

Hopefully the 'don't murder women' lessons solve the problem.

Sorry to be a facetious prick but really?

Yeah really. The misogynistic behaviour starts at home. If the parent/s aren't tackling it, who else is left.

Go into any city centre at pissed up o clock and the alright darling crowd are in full effect.

I've seen it several times... Where "Come love... Smile... I was only joking" turns into the fella threatening to give the women a slap.

It's the same culture... The murder part being the extreme result.

I wouldn't call what happened 'misogynistic'. It's easy to point fingers but some people are just fked. They are fking scum. The person who did this wasn't one class away from stopping a rape-murder.

I honestly have no idea of the point you're actually trying to make here confused Or are you just trying to trigger an argument because you're bored.

You might not call what happened as misogynistic, but people way more knowledgeable than you on the subject of femicide consider it a major factor.

I've even googled it for you... It's under the handy headline of "Murders are result of misogyny"

Have to disagree. The vast majority of misogynists don't generally make a habit of going round murdering women. You'll never be able to legislate around unhinged killers and as such i'd never ever want any of my Daughters walk alone late at night - anywhere. It'll never be safe but for sure the media is going to go into one now, about how women should feel safe to walk alone at night, Total nonsense. Society will continue to breed nutcase, psychopathic murderers that will prey on vulnerable / women alone at night. Just as we teach young children how to cross the road, women need educating to learn not to walk alone at night, how to ensure their drinks aren't spiked, carry a rape alarm etc

I'm not trying to trigger an argument, and yes, I am bored.

These things have happened since the start of humanity. And thankfully we live in the safest society to ever exist. I'm not sure what those classes are doing for your son, but if they have any impact on him raping and murdering women the problem lies elsewhere.

"Murders are result of misogyny" is as idiotic as claiming that male murders are a result of misandry.

To blame insufficient schooling with regards to the murder of this woman is awful imo.

My apologies, you obviously are an expert in femicide and do know more than the authors of that (and many other research papers)... I look fwd to reading your counter research in one of the forensic psychology journals.

Do remember to let us know when it's published. I'll get my wife show me it and to post up her thoughts. She guest lectures on one of the Forensic Psych doctorates.

And by the way... "To blame insufficient schooling with regards to the murder of this woman is awful imo.". Yeah it would be... If only I'd actually said that rolleyes

I actually think you're essentially just repeating fashionable ways of thinking and viewing this type of event.

Of course it's horrendous.

But what if I told you that over the past few years murders of women have been on a downward trend. Would you - given you clearly correlate them with misogyny - celebrate the good progress that is being made and note that misogyny is in decline?

Just to be clear, you don't think women should be able to feel safe to walk alone at night?
You think the solution to this is to educate the women on how to deal with the risk and not to address the risk itself?
