Not for the first time, but this one is odd and could possibly alter how Tesla cars perform in the future to stop similar lawsuits.
"Riley’s parents had suggested that the crash occurred because Tesla disabled a device limiting the Model S to 85 mph (137 km/h), something they said was done without their knowledge."

I'm wondering if the speed limiters will be made permanent and unalterable after this.

The sueing culture over there is unbelievable. Driver crashes their car in a 25mph zone while travelling in excess of 100mph, during an overtake, then the family blame the manufacturer of the car for it being capable of doing those speeds.

I don’t particularly like Tesla but I don’t think they’re at all at fault here. The driver paid the ultimate price for their own stupidity and unfortunately took a passenger with them.
