Clearly overdue and welcome.

I heard on the TV this morning of a 95 year old lady who had lost two of her sons to this.

I do hope they'll take into account parents as they don't seem entitled to compensation from what I've seen and read.

Only those infected or bereaved partners currently. Parents or children of those who died aren't eligible currently. Hopefully that will change with the recommendations made at the end of the inquiry.

A friend of mine was infected with Hep C by a transfusion during cancer surgery many years ago. She has had a few smaller sums over the years from one of the funds set up to support victims.

Fortunately, although she has suffered severe health problems because of this, the disease is "dormant", and she didn't pass it on to her partner or children. Despite many years of this, she is one of the most up-beat and outgoing people I have ever met.
She fully deserves this payment.
