Is it not important anymore?

The BBC website is a waste of time, Sky news is just as bad.

Where can I find up to date news?

On the BBC news mobile web page, there’s 5 stories under ‘other news’ and two of them have the word Queen in the title. One story about Ukraine and one about a murder investigation.

It's lovely isn't it, I have felt far happier this week not having bad news constantly rammed down my throat.

Covid, MonkeyPox, Climate change, Interest Rates, Recession, Inflation, Ukraine, Energy Prices, Energy Shortages etc. is not even mentioned anymore.

I am utterly sick of the post Covid doom and gloom we are all going to die mantra that the media have been pushing, it has been lovely to just forget about it all for a week.

Whilst I think it important to have a grasp of what's gong on in the world, I do get your point and have to agree.

Bad things are going to happen whether we're aware of it or not. I felt the same in the depth of Covid. Such was the singularity of topic, it was possible to completely tune out for a while.

There is no new news for the main stream media to make up.

I’m always reminded of this quote “ Never let the truth get in the way of a good story “. I believe it was Randolf Hirst.

After Monday they will be back to the starving children and half the population dying of cold in their homes. Who would have thought a death and funeral would have been a welcome break from the bad news. spin

If it is causing you that much of a problem you could just not read the news? It’s not obligatory.

I believe that the UK is badly served by both the BBC and Sky News rolling news service.

Sky News I could sort of forgive for having 4 or 5 stories an hour that they absolutely hammer over a 24hr period. They have limited resources.

Not so the BBC. It was not necessary for them to adopt the limited Sky model but they did.

And they are both too UKcentric. The Beeb has correspondents all around the world that we never hear from!

I often have to watch foreign news outlets like DW and France24 to get an idea of some other things that are happening around the world.

(I’ve just checked and there’s a whole BBC World News channel that is not available in the UK hehe )

What about BBC Radio 4?

They have whole programmes dedicated to foreign correspondent reporting.
