The president believes the low birth rate is due to 'young women consuming excess alcohol'.

Not how it was in my younger days in England and Scotland smile

A lot of the youngsters leave for countries with better prospects.

My wife’s town mainly has elderly people there as the youngsters are in Germany, Italy, UK, Iceland, USA etc

It’s not the president (Duda), it’s the leader of the ruling, populist fkwit “Law and Justice” party, Jaroslaw Kaczynski. Who’s a massive . He hangs around like a political dingleberry who’ll say and do anything to keep the catholic ttfest church and their drones onside.

As said, many young folk up and leave, wanting better prospects and better leadership. Which is a shame as it’s a lovely country with loads of investment from the EU and Asia, so could really go places if it wasn’t run by twunts.

The same thing is happening in Spain. Their population is predicted to fall by 11% by the middle of the century. This article is a few years old but the prediction is still valid and notes that immigrants have returned home and younger people are going elsewhere for better prospects.

ETA - birth rates are falling globally. It's nothing to do with too much alcohol, it's more to do with women realising that there might be more to life than just popping out kids and they increasingly have the education and the opportunities to do other things.

Not a fan, then? hehe

Personally, I think you’ve underestimated him.
He’s worse.

My wife is Polish (as are my ancestors) and our daughter lives there.

I reckon that draconian abortion laws have a say in this.

Until recently many of the polish babies were being born in U.K. hospitals - this would explain drop in their numbers .
