What harm did she really do? Proposed some tax cuts which never happened, except the scrapping of the NI rise, a decision all parties agree with. Damaged the Conservative party certainly, but the country? The only lasting downside seems to be some sensible supply side reforms getting thrown out with the bathwater.

I haven't seen today's proceedings, but isn't it the case that Edward and Sophie are the two hardest working royals, in terms of the number of engagements they attend and the charities they support. It used to be Anne but I think these 2 have overtaken her. So useless and pointless may be a tad harsh.

What harm did she do?! The botched budget cost the country £30 billion according to an independent think tank (Resolution Foundation).

Not even the resolution foundation thinks that. The £30 billion is the hole the current chancellor reckons he has to fill, but half of that is due to the reversal of the N I increase, and most of the remainder is due to a temporary increase in borrowing costs which would probably have happened anyway. Planned tax cuts that never happened didn't cost anything.

Same here; I’ve met him five times over the years and he always struck me as diligent, interesting and interested in what the groups of young people I was with said.

Go back quite a few years to when he wimped out of the marines to become an ASM (tea boy) for the Really Useful Group because he liked acting & drama. He was a figure of fun & enjoyed a great deal of well-earned contempt.

I don't know whether he's done much in the meantime to redeem himself.
