Did they really think taking his passport would stop him from running away - given his speciality.

I can say with absolute certainty, that this guys lax bail conditions have been set out by design, not accident.

Any subsequent court case would only highlight the severity and scale of just one firm in the game.

The fact that I offered to surrender my passport, post £500k bail, sign in at the Police Station twice a day and stay on TAG / HDC for 16 hours curfew each day, all for a little bit of party drugs, an offer which was firmly blocked by SOCA / NCA due to unverified accusations of me having an additional passport, (hence being a flight risk), whilst this guy, (a people smuggler who specialises in getting people across borders without alerting authorities), gets to walk?

Yeah, that’s a decision that come from upon high. No doubt about it.

I would have put it down to incompetence, but I suppose anything is possible.

Incompetence or corruption from the Home Office? Yes.

Incompetence from the NCA? Nope. Those guys are frighteningly thorough in every single detail. And what they don’t know, they just make up and claim it as fact.

ounds like court to court bail given he was sentenced in his absence.

Who, no doubt about it, "upon high" ordered that?
We will likely never find out. Someone in the upper echelons of the Home Office.

But it’s ok. I’m sure that “lessons will be learned”.

I assume went home to square away his ill gotten gains and make sure his family will be ok for the next 8... sorry I mean, 3.5 years.

He should get 15 years for skipping. That would send a message, I dont even mind paying the taxes to keep him inside!
