Herman miller CEO - "work harder for bonus" while taking $5m
Discussion
A zoom call from the CEO of Herman Miller (who make excellent office chairs) is going viral for telling her staff they won't be getting a bonus and not to live in "pity city" while taking one herself. You can watch the zoom call here:

She goes from polite to aggressive quite quickly!
I don't know how long she will be in charge after this, and there will be many who will defend her and want the workers just to suck it up or leave (which is a pretty standard reply on here at times), but if you get surprised by comments like "eat the rich" you don't have to look far to find evidence of this type of behavior and that it is probably welcomed in the C-suite

I know it's from 2014 but I often think about this article:
The Pitchforks Are Coming… For Us Plutocrats
The Pitchforks Are Coming… For Us Plutocrats

And so I have a message for my fellow filthy rich, for all of us who live in our gated bubble worlds: Wake up, people. It won’t last.
If we don’t do something to fix the glaring inequities in this economy, the pitchforks are going to come for us. No society can sustain this kind of rising inequality. In fact, there is no example in human history where wealth accumulated like this and the pitchforks didn’t eventually come out. You show me a highly unequal society, and I will show you a police state. Or an uprising. There are no counterexamples. None. It’s not if, it’s when.

He is quoting figures that sounded bad then, since 2014 they have only gotten worse!

I wonder how much homeworking and offices downsizing (in terms of space) has hit their bottom line.
Yet she still managed to trouser a 1.3m "performance bonus". Almost like the bonus system at the company is heavily weighted to paying the board whilst heavily weighted against paying everyone else.
They will have made a lot of money at the end of the pandemic when people bought home office chairs and the offices then needed to replace them but now everyone who needed one would have bought one I'd have thought.
I'm not sure workers are that bothered about what they sit on tbh, we have some at our work and the females complain about
getting cold backs from the aircon so prefer the cheap office chairs with solid backs.
I saw a review the Logitech Herman Miller chair and was considering buying it but it's over a grand more than what the competition charge for similar plastic chairs so opted for another make of gaming chair.
