the inner city is really not a pleasant place to be, particularly the north inner city

getting off the train at Heuston station and getting the tram into town is an experience even in the day

changing lines off the north quay and it’s full of druggies and dubious characters in the middle of the day .. really not pleasant at all with a real air of menace

i wouldn’t want to be walking around at night there for sure

i’d walk round London, Manchester, Edinburgh etc happily at night .. Dublin not a chance

Combination of methadone clinic, and complete lack of security on the LUAS (metro tram).

This surprises me. I was last there in 2017 (Kraftwerk gig) and while it was a bit laddish and rowdy around the city centre I wouldn't have described it a particularly menacing.

last few times i’ve been on the LUAS they’ve had security guards at the stops at Heuston and in the city centre as well as on the trams, in full body armour

they clearly need it!

far cry from the Metrolink in Manchester

I think limerick had a reputation far worse than the reality (stab city as it was/is known). Waterford is getting worse due to heroin these days, or so the ex-neighbours tell us.

But then again, I used to walk through moss side regularly, so maybe I'm desensitized!

Went there for a funeral a year ago, we went out and about the day after, opened a lift at the car park, full of druggies smoking up!

Absolutely no Police (Gardaí) to be seen anywhere. Open drug use on the streets. But hey at least we have a €2billion (and counting) hospital being built.
A helpless Government not making things any better.
