Yeah, it should be the other way 'round. But it's a bit of trope.

It applies to so much more than this particular scenario though... here in the UK we have people who vote for Conservative and then whinge about NHS services and waiting times, people who vote Labour and then whinge that poor kids don't get into top unis (because there are essentially no grammar schools anymore).

I think the summary is really "people want everything their own way, and often don't understand the consequences of what they want".

I'd also suggest the whole notion of conservative Vs liberal in the US is cock as the words seem to have lost all meaning to them. They should just use "Trumptard" and "ANTIFAckwit" instead of trying to lump normal people into their moronic dichotomy. Admittedly the Americans I know have IQs into triple digits and jobs, but most of them feel about this bks as the average Brit.
