I've always thought this. We're a reasonably peaceful liberal democracy. If we want cultures that have substantially different values to us by definition they're going to be bigoted, undemocratic, violent b
ds.I suspect a lot of people say they want multiculturalism but what they mean is they want people who are a *lot* like us but perhaps with slightly different food.
....and that doesn't really work because those people smoothly integrate, so in one generation they're the same culture as the indigenous people.

I've seen a lot of this on medical twitter. Consultants pontificating about how well diversity works in their setting. By 'diversity' they mean 'that charming young Italian radiographer'.
