Slight lack of self awareness there ?
Not seen the story but sounds like he moved there and now is moaning about people moving there ?
Surely That cause should really have a Spaniard at the helm ?
Anyway, three weeks today will be going and seeing how welcome we are. Its weird though, they promote tourism and take the tourist dollar for years, sell property to tourists and then moan about it, not sure what the economy on Tenerife would be like without tourism which makes up 80 percent of its revenue ?

Presumably any policies regarding tourism are decided by the government and so open for individuals citizens to criticise and campaign for changes. Not seen the story but sounds like he moved there and now is moaning about people moving there ?

If we are unwanted in Tenerife, don’t go. After seeing Mount Teide and the hot springs, it’s nothing special, is it? Just sun (some) sand, black in places and cheapish food/ booze. Hundreds of other places like that ,if you’re not a culture vulture.

t hole.I liked it for some cheap winter sun although given the cost of travel these days i probably wiuldnt bother. The roads are impressive but La Gomera across the water offers some incredible roads for cycling or driving/motorcycling.

Yes, in high season the island is swamped. Much like some of our south coast holiday destinations the locals wouldn't mind a bit of life of their own. They might not be involved with the tourist trade but can still benefit from the tourist pound- everything from garages to food shops to plumbers.We cruised around the Canaries / Madeira earlier this year.
Our tour guide (obviously biased) made the point that Las Palma was struggling as tourism levels have dropped due to the combination of Covid and more significantly losing a major hotel to volcanic eruption.
Perhaps there is scope for spreading the tourism out a little.
