Sadly this is local ish to me, and had a full bit on look north, the weather man summed it up the best after the piece. ‘In my 30 years of television that is the most surreal bit I’ve ever seen us do”. It descended further when the news anchor thought it would be good to join in. Thankfully I rarely watch the news,

I unfortunately get the feeling that the lad in question will end up having a pretty hard time of it because of all this publicity. It is a very strange competition it must be said. And whatever they are trying to portray I’m not for changing as I’m sure will be a lot of other people , Seagulls have become a total menace and this behaviour has been created by …………… yep, humans yet again.

When I saw penguin boy I was in stitches. Really made me laugh.

Just the absurdly surreal cameo of him in the background.

Great film.

I saw this at the end of the Six 'O Clock news earlier, and Sophie Raworth's face at the end of the report said it all.

Surely the full title is "Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire"?

I cringe at stuff like this. There isn't a chance in hell I'd let any of my kids (if I had any) do this sort of rubbish for the media, let alone in public (although I appreciate that's harder to control).

It's not as bad as Big Ben girl, that still haunts me

I don’t really get the cringe - they’re just kids! Kids are weird. I couldn’t care less if mine wanted to be seagulls or Big Ben.

Not sure I’d consider it a news item but it doesn’t worry me.

Anyone else remember the skateboarding duck on Nationwide?

That's what comes to mind when seeing "news" items like this. I normally only watch BBC Breakfast for Sally Nugent's legs, but when she described this kid as having a "fabulous talent" I had to turn it off. And she was wearing trousers.
