Is it just me or does this sentence seem very light, considering this poor bloke is probably ruined now for life?

''was given 20 months jail suspended for two years and was banned from contacting her victim for five years under the terms of a restraining order.''

You'd have thought that single parent to six children would have potentially set some alarm bells ringing to start with.

I wouldn't say he was ruined for life, he clearly got something out of it to a point, otherwise he'd have scarpered on day 2.

The thing that I wonder is why his parents didn’t say “she’s treating you awfully, move back in with us and dump her”.

What on earth made him put up with it?!

No doubt it all started fine, sex etc etc then with the foundations laid she no doubt gradually introduced the control.

Once inside it'll be very hard to see out until someone points it out.

If she was a man she would have been serving time but no doubt stated childcare impact.

I’m surprised that she’s still able to work in the NHS. She’s hardly a good candidate for a caring profession.

Some people here don’t understand how this sort of abuse can be ‘accepted’ by the victim. The abuser knows the sort of victim they’re looking for, knows who they can manipulate. They don’t meet them for the first time over a drink and state what they’re going to do!

Might be seen by the NHS as a good candidate for a management position.....

Also, there is still a huge stigma admitting that you (a big strong man) are being abused by a woman.

Seems like a light sentence. how much time would a man get for the same thing?

Six children too! She certainly isn't fit to look after them.

And also, as shown by the detail in the report, abuse can be subtle, and a simple description of an individual event may sound trivial, or not sound like abuse, so the victim is afraid of not being believed.

For example, he was 'forced to buy her a £400 handbag'. To which my flippant response would be 'lucky chap, only £400,he got off lightly' It's the accumulative effect of many events, and the attitudes/behavior around them.

I have very little sympathy for sad simps who put up with things like this. Same with women who go back to abusive partners.
