When you strip out those out on compassionate (to die) grounds, ~%5 of those given OLRs since introduction have been released under parole and risk assessment. There is some criticism that the Scottish parole board is too risk averse!

A mid-teens number of people are given OLRs each year, might be a spike in 2025!

Thankfully those convicted are in for a long existence of constantly looking over their shoulder.

One of them used to work at a trade wholesale counter in Glasgow. He was superficially friendly but a bit weird. He showed up with a big slash down his face shortly before disappearing suddenly.
He had a story about being mugged on a night out, felt sorry for him at the time, but after seeing this I think it might be related and he was lying about it. Oh well, hopefully it hurt a lot and probably it will be the first of many. It wouldn't even begin to come close to what these people deserve.
